Team Leader - Barclay Meade
“My career in recruitment started with Matchtech in 2003, having just graduated in Business Studies and looking for a challenging position…
• Your first days at Matchtech Group are a fast learning curve that keeps you on your toes, but the in-house training along with a supportive management approach and team involvement really helped me to progress quickly. My previous work experience in marketing and sales certainly facilitated my confidence in the competitive and fast pace recruitment market.
• The initial 3-month training period increases your confidence in developing a strong client base for future recruitment needs. I also found the sales and recruitment training helpful in developing my own personal approach to sales, and the training provided on interview techniques proved crucial to meeting client’s needs. My role is very specialised and you quickly begin to understand the individual needs within various technical markets and across various businesses working environments.
• The competitive environment at Matchtech is enjoyable and keeps you motivated. Recruitment can be very challenging but it is certainly rewarding, and allows you to develop many core business skills such as presenting to clients, research and development and client management.
• The role is very people interfacing. On a day to day basis you will...
- Research markets
- Contact businesses to develop business
- Arrange meetings and use various search tools to identify suitable candidates.
- It is significant to plan your day ahead and prioritise positions and your goals for the day.
- The interviewing and candidate focused side to the job is very interesting, as you learn how to identify key skills/ personal attributes and match them to suitable positions.
• The Matchtech culture is both team and individually targeted, allowing you to support your team but still maintain a competitive element with colleagues.
• Time management is the key to recruitment but it is also important to get a balance between work and play. As such, the company provides incentive schemes and organises regular social events. The company fully supports all of its employees which means you can get work done a lot more efficiently and improves communication with your colleagues, so that wherever you work in the building, there is always plenty of opportunity to mix with other Consultants.”
